Grampians disAbility Advocacy Association (GdAA) works with, and for, people with a disability and their carers in the Grampians region of Victoria, Australia.

About the Grampians region

The Grampians has a population of 210,000 spread over 48,610 square kilometres. It includes local government areas of Golden Plains, Moorabool, Ballarat City, Hepburn, Pyrenees, Ararat Rural City, Northern Grampians, Horsham Rural City, Yarriambiack, West Wimmera and Hindmarsh.

The Grampians region:

  • Stretches from Bacchus Marsh (Victoria) to the South Australian border.
  • Includes the major regional centres of Ballarat (pop. 83,000), Horsham (pop. 12,000), and Ararat (pop. 11,000).
  • Includes the area known as \"The Wimmera\" (Horsham, West Wimmera, Hindmarsh and Yarriambiack shires), with a total population of 40,000, of which 8000 have a disability, and 30 percent of these have a severe or profound disability (DHS Disability Estimates for Local Government Areas and Regions in Victoria 1998).
